Our Strategic Process

Are you frustrated or stressed because your strategic plan isn't working, is outdated or maybe you don't even have a plan? 

A clear strategic direction reduces frustration and allows for effective marketing, communication and fundraising. Our Strategic Step-Pathway provides the right framework for your organization to establish that direction. We start by asking a few key questions, such as:

  • What is your organization's overall mission?
  • Where is your organization today?
  • Where would you like your organization to be in several years?
  • What are your greatest obstacles in getting there? 

After finding the answers to these as well as several other specific questions, we are able to determine the critical steps necessary to reach your organization's goals and objectives. Typically, there is one overarching strategy and a number of sub-strategies that will allow you to overcome the barriers as you move between steps to achieve your goal. We map it out in what we call your Strategic Step-Pathway.

Case Study

The Situation

A relatively young nonprofit organization was at a critical juncture in its life cycle. In order to increase its capacity to serve, the Executive Director and Board needed to determine the strategic direction of the organization's future goals and financial needs.

The Solution
A Stepping-Stone consultant facilitated a strategic planning workshop with the Executive Director and Board members. The half-day meeting focused on defining the organization as it existed on that day, as well as the desired characteristics a year into the future. Subsequent to the meeting, Stepping-Stone mapped out the milestones and plans for reaching the future goals, and worked alongside the Executive Director to shape final plans.
